She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in “Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering” at the Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy), supervised by professor Alessandra Zanelli. Her research focuses on exploring the role of Technology Design that may occurs in the Resilience of Urban Systems, with a particular application to social systems that emerge in peripheral urban areas.
She holds a Master Degree in Architecture from Università degli Studi di Ferrara (Italy) in 2012, with a Master Thesis on Architectural Heritage in Rural Palestine, supervised by Daniele Pini, Full Professor of Urban Planning at the Department of Architecture, Università degli Studi di Ferrara. She then specialized at the Politecnico di Torino (Italy), attended the Advanced Course in “Habitat, Technology and Development” in 2014, which aim was to train young professionals in urban planning in humanitarian contexts and in technology construction for housing in the Global South.
In her professional experience, Anna has supported multi-disciplinary approaches and cooperated in applied researches, investigating methods and tools, in social interaction and urban decision-making processes. She did quantitative analysis using geo-data, supported by GIS software, for increasing sustainability of urban settlements, and comparative analysis using web-based interactive maps and open data (Information and Communication Technologies for Development - ICT4D), fostering civic engagement and public accountability in urban informatics, e-democracy and social innovation contexts. In particular, she contributed as a junior research fellow at the Politecnico di Torino (2015-2016) to the design, implementation and uptake of an interactive platform. It is an online system that seek to increase collective capacity to make sense of complex issues, focusing on the co-design of public space in a peripheral urban area in Turin (Italy), between local stakeholders (www.miramap.it). In 2015 the European Commission awarded the project the SiForAge Prize, within the Seventh Framework Programme, which promote social inclusion of disadvantaged social categories, particularly the elderly.
